Supported Pocket PCs
GENERAL PURPOSE POCKET PCs
While Pocket Zone is compatable with many general purpose handheld computers, they are fragile and only suitable for use in dry, mild weather. These Pocket PCs include the HP iPAQ, and many others. As long as the one you choose is using either the Windows Mobile or Windows CE operating systems, Pocket Zone should run on it. Since you probably want to control a total station or other laser measurement device, be sure the Pocket PC you choose is compatible with serial data and has a serial cable!
RUGGEDIZED POCKET PCs
"Ruggedized" handheld computers, like the TDS Recon, are designed for outdoor use. They can withstand rain and cold temperatures and many of these devices can even be dropped from a 4' height without sustaining damage. They are often designed to control a device like a total station so they have the required serial port and cable - but ask the manufacturer just to be sure!
