The Pocket Zone
ALL NEW! Pocket PC Data Collection Software
Do you ever take measurements at a crash or crime scene? Now, with Pocket Zone software,* you can do it faster, easier, and more accurately - right from your Pocket PC! Pocket Zone is a data collector program that works with your total station or laser device, but it does not stop there. You actually see the drawing as it is being created, so you leave the scene confident that all the details have been accurately measured and recorded.
*Note: Pocket Zone is data collection software ONLY. You must provide your own Pocket PC. Click here for information on some Pocket PC's that are compatible with Pocket Zone.
Erik Scairpon, Redmond PD (WA)
"We just did a felony assault scene last night that took us
about 300+ shots and 10 station moves. Our LTI Recon
and the Pocket Zone worked like a charm. Station moves are
no longer an insurmountable task for us!"

Pocket Zone is the only
data collection software
for the Pocket PC which is
just for investigators -
not for surveyors!
Use Pocket Zone to record all your measurements at the scene, then bring that data directly into Crash Zone or Crime Zone to complete your diagram.
The Pocket Zone software lets you turn a Pocket PC into a powerful data collector for total stations and other laser measuring devices, including equipment from Nikon, Sokkia, Leica, TopCon, Laser Technology, and more. It's recommended that you use Pocket Zone on a "ruggedized" handheld computer, such as the TDS Recon, TDS Ranger, or Topcon FC Series. You can also use it on other Pocket PC's, like the HP iPAQ, but just don't drop them! (Pocket Zone is NOT compatible with Palm handheld computers). Click here to see a list of supported hardware.
Pocket Zone is:
Easy to learn -Created just for law enforcement officers and reconstructionists - not for surveyors!
Fast -Features "one button" operation to fire your device! (Available on most devices.)
Accurate -See the drawing take shape on the screen! You can be confident that you have recorded all the points you need before you leave the scene.
Automatic -Automatically connect points with lines or curves. Auto-saves every shot!
Compatible -Fully compatible with The Crash Zone and Crime Zone; Just open your Pocket Zone data file in Crash Zone or Crime Zone and see all points, lines, curves, labels, and so on, that you recorded at the site. Pocket Zone also imports and exports to AutoCAD .dxf and .dwg drawing formats.
Flexible -Draw points, lines, and curves from your total station data or from manual measurements.
Powerful -Place symbols, line types, and text which show up perfectly in your desktop CAD Zone drawing software.
Easy to read -Full color screen with more space to view your drawing than other Pocket PC data collection software!
Verifiable -Generate coordinate data text files of all your points. Points shot with the laser can never be removed from the permanent data record so your data is safe. If you choose to erase a point, it is moved to a special layer that can be displayed if you want to verify those points.
Saves time -Don't redraw! You can open and edit drawings of intersections you previously created. Once you take the measurements of an intersection, you can save it and use it next time there is a crash. Just add the details of the vehicles, debris, and so on, and you're finished!
Here is what Deputy Kimsey of the Hamilton County
Sheriff's Office (TN) says about The Pocket Zone:
"Now we can diagram a crash right at the scene! We shoot our
points from a total station into The Pocket Zone, then bring the data
straight into our desktop diagramming program - The Crash Zone.
There are no conversions and no chance for errors!"
